Ambient listening headsets are electronic headsets which reproduce the ambient sound into the headsets but cut out loud sounds when they happen. Also know as level dependent and cut off. There are two ways the electronics work, one cuts out the sound and comes back when the impulse noise has stopped and the other basically filters out the halmful sound and allows you to continue to hear at a safe level.
